The brick making industry situated in the outskrits of Kolkata is the source of livelihood for a considerable numbers of migrant workers coming from various locations outside the state of Bengal. The labourers including children spend a greater part of the year in the klins amidst poor health conditions and deplorable living conditions, deprived of access to health, education and other developmental services. Focusing on improving health, hygiene, education and protection scenario of women and children in the brick kilns of North 24 Parganas, CLPOA in partnership with GOAL, Ireland implemented an integrated programme for the workers and covered 4619 project beneficiaries of 11 brick kilns in Barasat II Block of North 24 Parganas.
