Violence Free Schools

The main objective of this UNICEF sponsored programme was primarily to involve and equip school authorities, teachers and mothers to promote violence free schools. The capacity building of students to address the situations of violence and developing the schools as violence free zones. Unicef Kolkata is working with CLPOA since its inception. During current year they started the programme from November 2015.

Spanning duration of 2 years and covering 50 schools, the  objectives of the project are:

  • To equip teachers in implementing Child Protection guidelines to establish violence free schools.
  • To define role and mobilize School Management Committees for establishing violence free schools.
  • To strengthen and improve the participation of children in recognizing and addressing violence and seeking re-addressal.
  • To engage closely with mothers and community members in creating violence free protective environment for children in homes and communities.


  • Selection of schools in collaboration with SSM and DPSC of Kolkata.
  • Collect data on various forms of violence perpetuated against children, availability of mechanism to redress
  • the issues on violence and related information .
  • Sensitization Training For Teachers in all the selected schools
  • Awareness Generation Campaign in 10 Communities on violence against children and available measures in  addressing the same within present structure of law and law enforcement
